Subprocessors
Last updated: _______________
Mother Hen relies on a small number of third-party companies to deliver our service. These companies process some of your data on our behalf, which makes them our "subprocessors." We list them here so you can see exactly who is involved in delivering Mother Hen and what data each one handles.
We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for any purpose beyond operating the Service. The companies below are bound by their own privacy commitments and process your data only as needed to perform the function described.
Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Location: United States (us-east-2 region, Ohio)
AWS provides all of Mother Hen's cloud infrastructure. We use AWS to:
- Store your account information and telemetry data (DynamoDB)
- Run our software (Lambda)
- Receive messages from your Mother Hen hardware (IoT Core)
- Manage your login and authentication (Cognito)
- Store logs and firmware files (S3)
- Send SMS alerts to your phone (Pinpoint SMS Voice v2)
Hologram
Location: United States
Hologram provides the cellular SIM card inside your Mother Hen controller. Hologram sees:
- Your device's identifier (ICCID)
- The approximate location of the cell tower your device most recently connected to
- Session metadata: when your device connected and for how long
Hologram, in turn, contracts with cellular network operators (such as T-Mobile and AT&T) to provide the underlying wireless network. Those operators are Hologram's subprocessors, not ours.
Square
Location: United States
Square processes all credit card payments for hardware purchases and subscription renewals. Square sees:
- Your name as it appears on the card
- Your card number
- Your billing address
- The purchase amount and transaction date
Mother Hen does not store your full card number; that data is held by Square in compliance with PCI DSS (the payment card industry's data security standard).
GitHub
Location: United States
GitHub hosts the firmware binaries that your Mother Hen controller downloads when we release a firmware update. GitHub does not receive any of your personal information — it only serves the firmware files themselves. Your device makes an anonymous request to download an update, and GitHub provides the file.
What Is Not a Subprocessor
We work with many hardware suppliers whose components are inside Mother Hen devices — including Teltonika (BTS-MP1 sensor), DPTechnics (Walter controller board), Sequans (modem chip), Espressif (microcontroller), and Polycase (enclosures), among others. These companies sold us hardware components; they do not have ongoing access to your data during normal operation of the Service, and they are therefore not subprocessors.
Changes to This List
If we add, remove, or replace a subprocessor in the future, we will update this page and provide reasonable notice to active customers by email and SMS. For material changes, we will provide notice at least thirty (30) days in advance where practical.
