Limited Hardware Warranty

1. Warranty Coverage
Smith Varmint Works LLC ("Smith Varmint Works," "Company," "we," "us," or "our") warrants that Mother Hen™ hardware products, when used in accordance with our documentation and instructions, will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for the warranty period specified below.
2. Warranty Periods

3. What This Warranty Covers
- Manufacturing defects in electronic components
- Premature failure of circuit boards, sensors, or radios under normal use
- Firmware defects that render hardware non-functional (covered by firmware update; hardware replacement if update cannot resolve)
- Battery failure in Coop Climate Sensors and Door Monitors within the warranty period under normal operating conditions
4. What This Warranty Does Not Cover
- Normal wear and tear, including cosmetic degradation of enclosures exposed to outdoor conditions
- Physical damage from drops, impacts, crushing, or improper handling
- Water damage beyond the rated ingress protection of the enclosure
- Damage from improper installation, including incorrect voltage supply, reversed polarity, or exceeding operating temperature range
- Damage from environmental events including lightning strikes, flooding, fire, or extreme weather beyond operating specifications
- Damage from unauthorized modification, disassembly, or repair by anyone other than Smith Varmint Works LLC
- Damage from use with non-Mother Hen hardware not supplied or approved by Smith Varmint Works LLC
- Cellular network changes by third-party carriers that affect device connectivity
- Consumable items: Coop Climate Sensor and Door Monitor batteries are consumable; warranty covers premature failure but not normal depletion

Operating outside these ranges voids warranty coverage per Section 4.
6. Remedy
If a hardware defect is confirmed within the warranty period, we will, at our sole discretion:
(a) Repair the defective unit, or
(b) Replace the defective unit with a new or refurbished unit of equal or greater functionality, or
(c) Refund the original purchase price of the defective unit.
Replacement units carry the remainder of the original warranty period or thirty (30) days, whichever is longer.
7. Warranty Claim Process

For urgent situations (e.g., controller failure leaving a coop unmonitored), we will make commercially reasonable efforts to expedite.
8. Firmware Updates
Firmware updates are provided at no charge during the warranty period and during any active subscription period. If we issue a firmware update to address a known defect or safety issue, failure to apply the update within sixty (60) days may void warranty coverage for that specific issue.
9. Limitation of Warranty
MOTHER HEN HARDWARE IS SOLD "AS-IS." THIS LIMITED HARDWARE WARRANTY IS THE SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE WARRANTY FOR MOTHER HEN HARDWARE, AND NO OTHER WARRANTIES — EXPRESS OR IMPLIED — APPLY EXCEPT AS EXPRESSLY STATED HERE. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SMITH VARMINT WORKS LLC DISCLAIMS ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS ON IMPLIED WARRANTIES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS, AND YOU MAY HAVE OTHER RIGHTS THAT VARY BY STATE.
10. Limitation of Liability
Smith Varmint Works LLC's total liability under this warranty is limited to the original purchase price of the defective hardware. In no event shall Smith Varmint Works LLC be liable for loss of livestock, property damage, lost profits, or any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
11. Transferability
This warranty is not transferable. It applies only to the original purchaser. If the coop or hardware is sold or transferred to a new owner, warranty coverage does not transfer.
12. Severability
If any provision of this warranty is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.
